Description:
Department of Family Medicine:
o Participate in Departmental strategic planning.
o Support the goals and objectives of the Department of Family Medicine and Alberta Health Services.
o Participate in the Department of Family Medicine Executive Committee meetings.
o Adherence to workforce planning goals and principles of the Department of Family Medicine, Calgary Corridor
Section of Medical Inpatient Care:
o Provide leadership and direction for the current Department of Family Medicine hospitalist programs located at the four adult hospital sites.
o Collaborate with Medical Inpatient Care Site Leads and the Manager of the Hospitalist Program to ensure quality care, quality assurance and safety, optimal resource utilization, excellence in communication and continuing professional education.
o Collaborate with the Calgary Hospitalist Governance Association representatives to ensure alignment of the funding model of the Hospitalist ARP with the required service delivery elements required by Alberta Health Services and the Department of Family Medicine.
o Support recruitment and retention of physicians to staff the hospitalist program.
o Develop and maintain healthy working relationships with key partners for the Section of Medical Inpatient Care.
o In conjunction with medical and administrative leaders, participate in acute care service planning.
o Provide collaboration between the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care Alberta, Assisted Living Alberta and Recovery Alberta to promote integrated care across the continuum.
o Oversee the administrative medical affairs requirements of the section including periodic reviews, workforce planning and AIVA submissions.

• Medicine Strategic Clinical Network
• Others as required to ensure quality and safety of care provided within the Section of Medical Inpatients

Qualifications:
• Physician with an Alberta medical license with experience in inpatient hospital medicine. Current or recent work in the Calgary hospitalist program is considered an asset
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively develop and lead teams.
• Demonstrated successful interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Calgary Corridor –AHS structure, governance, clinical and operational departments.
• Ability to identify and balance priorities and interests of the public, Alberta Health Services and physicians.
• Clinical appointment with AHS, Calgary Corridor
The candidate must have or be eligible for General Register with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
